My Favorite Bands

Paramore

band

Band Info

The combination of musical energy between brothers and Hayley’s bold charisma earned them instant attention, particularly from Florida indie Fueled by Ramen, who signed the band and put them to work recording their debut. Says Hayley, “Some of our favorite bands are on Fueled by Ramen. We knew that they would know exactly how to carry out the vision for our band and music.” Paramore went into the studio with producers James Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever, Underoath) and Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Black Maria) and blew them away with their sincerity and enthusiasm.

Secondhand Serenade

Band Info

John Joseph Vesely formed Secondhand Serenade in his home town of Menlo Park in California, USA, in 2004. Vesely was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in a musical family and as the son of a professional jazz musician father, commenting that "getting into music was a natural thing" for him. He spent 8 years playing as a bassist in local bands, featuring in a number of acts ranging in style from ska and hardcore to rock and pop. After years of playing bass, he opted for an acoustic guitar and began writing his own songs when he met his wife Breanna Russell. She had wanted him to play a song and "serenading her with a bass guitar was out of the question", he has admitted he found his "true calling" when he picked up the guitar.

Yellowcard

Band Info

Yellowcard is a 5 piece rock and roll band from Jacksonville, Florida. The band came together in high school a few years ago and has recently signed their first record contract with Lobster Records. You can get more info at Lobster Records. Yellowcard's latest album, "One For The Kid's", was released in April 2001 on Lobster Records. Here is a run down on the members of YC:

Ryan Key The lead vocalist and he helps out in the guitar department. Often referred to by friends and bandmates as, "Emo", Ryan wears geeky glasses and dresses funny. He is influenced by the likes of Green Day, Weezer, and Ben Folds Five. Ryan plays Gibson guitars and Marshall amplifiers.

Ben Harper It's hard to find a day where Ben doesn't have a smile on his face, Harper is sort of the morale captain of Yellowcard. He is quite possibly the happiest most mellow guy you will ever meet, and he rips at guitar. Who could ask for anything more!?!? Ben's axe of choice is a Gibson Les Paul and he uses Mesa Engineering amplifiers. Ben likes Lagwagon, Ben Folds, Saves the Day, Incubus and many more.

Sean Mackin The violin player. Yes, violin. Yellowcard has always caught people's ears with their addition of a violin to the group. In a review of the latest full length, "Where We Stand" the violin was praised as "working more often than one would think." Sean digs all kinds of music including Strung Out, Millencolin, Craig's Brother, and The Get Up Kids. Sean plays a Fender electric violin through a Fender Pro Sonic amplifier.

Warren Cooke He is often looked up to as father by the boys in YC. He keeps their asses in line and they love him for it. He plays the bass in the band and is currently the only member who can get a girl to like him for more than a week. He's got rad tats, that must be how he does it. Warren enjoys the sounds of Lagwagon, Good Riddance, the Ataris, and The Police to name a few. He uses Ibanez basses through SWR amplifiers.

Longineu Parsons This young man was playing the drums before he was potty trained. Much of the muscle in Yellowcard's sound comes out of this guys creativity. He is into everything from Beer Bong to Slipknot, Pantera type stuff. Two band members already have hearing aids because L.P. has trouble striking his drum heads lightly. He pounds on Pearl drums and Sabian cymbals.

Dashboard confessional

Band Info

'Dashboard Confessional' is an American Acoustic/Electric guitar driven emo rock outfit led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Chris Carrabba from Boca Raton, Florida. The current lineup includes Carrabba (guitar, vocals), Scott Shoenbeck (bass guitar), John Lefler (guitar), and Mike Marsh (drums). Carrabba's first venture with Further Seems Forever was nowhere near as successful as the Dashboard Confessional project. They became more popular by appearing on soundtracks such as Shrek 2 and Spiderman 2. Dashboard Confessional was started in 2000.
The name 'Dashboard Confessional' is derived from one of Chris' songs, The Sharp Hint of New Tears. The line "On the way home, this car hears my confessions" gave Chris the idea. Contrary to popular belief, 'Dashboard Confessional' refers only to Chris Carrabba as he originally intended it to be a solo project. He addressed this misunderstanding saying, "What rulebook says it has to be called your name if you're one guy?"
In May of 2005, Dashboard Confessional entered the studio to record their third album with Daniel Lanois, half of the famed U2 production team.

New Found Glory

Band Info

The lives of New Found Glory run parallel to the lives of most of their fans over the past few years -- they've experienced heartbreak, left school for the real world, finally moved out of their homes and found careers. And though the group has spawned outstanding international notoriety over the past couple years, New Found Glory are just as easy to connect with as a best friend, with hardly any fan/band separation to be found and even for those who haven't lived along the same lines, relating to New Found Glory's music and message is a cakewalk. Heartache? Loss of a loved one? Enjoying your life? Mixed emotions? Just a few of the topics New Found Glory have touched upon, if not delved into, during their illustrious career.

Eraserheads

Band Info
The Eraserheads or E-Heads, was a popular Pinoy rock band in the Philippines during the alternative rock explosion of the early 1990s. The Eraserheads is also regarded as the band that opened the commercial doors for other aspiring Filipino rock bands like Rivermaya, Parokya ni Edgar, and Yano. Their influence and contribution to Philippine music today is so great that they have often been called the "The Beatles of the Philippines."

Their music is almost unclassifiable due to its great diversity. They worked both in the underground and mainstream of the Philippine music industry with a mix of alternative, pop, rock, reggae, synth rock and other genres.
